Individual Therapy

At The Goldsmith Clinic we offer a range of Psychotherapeutic approaches from Gestalt to Cognitive Analytical Therapy to Compassion Focused Therapy or Trauma Therapy. Following your assessment you may be engaged in one of our therapies with one of our experienced and accredited therapists.

Individual psychotherapy involves meeting with a therapist one-on-one on a weekly basis for the purpose of reducing internal suffering which may occur in the form of problematic behaviours, beliefs, feelings, and somatic responses (sensations in the body). In addition, ongoing psychotherapy is a common and useful means of self-growth and self-actualization for many people. Therapy can help people to confront barriers which interfere with emotional and mental well-being. The relationship between the therapists and client is vital in the process so that the client can feel safe and heard in the sessions in exploring their core anxieties and conflicts.

Individual Therapy is a compassionate act for oneself by oneself in a safe and confidential setting. The therapist will help you to explore and understand your world in a more compassionate way so that eventually you may be able to show compassion to yourself in life which ultimately is the task of therapy.

Individual therapists can use a variety of treatment modalities or theories in helping a client understand their way of being in the world. The therapies that we mainly use are explored in more detail individually.
